Q. What is an in-text citation in SWS format?
Answer
The in-text citation is used to show the reader where you found the idea you're discussing. This is an important part of using sources ethically.
Sources cited in your paper should follow the (author, number) format after a direct quotation, paraphrase, or summary. This means the author's last name and source by order of appearance are cited within parentheses.
Example:
(Smith, 1).
The 1 indicates that this is the first source listed in your paper and therefore the first in the Source list.
