What is a block quotation?
Answer
Quotations more than 40 words are generally called block quotations. Some writing styles have formatting rules unique to block quotations. Strayer Writing Standards (SWS) does not recommend the use of block quotations. Instead, we recommend that you paraphrase the material by putting it into your own words and then including a in-text citation and source list entry to share where you found the idea.
