If you have never submitted a discussion post, take a look at the Canvas Help page in iCampus. There is a PDF of exact steps and a video demonstration for how to submit.
There is not a university-wide template for discussion posts. Instructors may share suggested templates for their specific classes. These would likely be in the Student Center section of the Canvas course shell. Ultimately, use the discussion prompt and your best judgement to decide the appropriate length. One rule of thumb is to write one paragraph for each question of the prompt. Ultimately, be sure to answer each question of the prompt.
