Do I have to cite sources in my discussion posts?

Is SWS required for discussion posts? Should my post have in-text citations?

Answer

You may need SWS in your discussion post! As the writer, you must decide that.

If you paraphrase or quote the ideas or thoughts of others, then yes, you must use SWS in your discussion post. If you do not use the ideas or thoughts of others, then you do not need to do so.

Sometimes a discussion prompt may explicitly ask you to use research or your textbook. In these cases, you should do so, and use SWS. If a discussion post doesn't require research, but you choose to add research, then you must use SWS.
