Can I paraphrase by flipping the sentence around?
What is structural plagiarism? What is sentence plagiarism?
Answer
When paraphrasing:
- Rephrase source information in your own words.
- Avoid repeating the same words as the author or flipping/reversing/reordering the original content.
- Remember, do not just replace words by using synonyms. This is known as structural plagiarism and is still plagiarism, even if you include a citation.
- Add the author’s last name and a number to the end of your paraphrase as in an in-text citation.
