How do I cite the Bible?

Can I cite a religious text? How do I cite the Quran? Can I cite the Talmud?

Answer

For the in-text citation, we offer this sample: (New Jerusalem Bible, 1), assuming it was the first source on the Source List page. If using New Jerusalem Bible more than once and using separate quotations, you could use (New Jerusalem Bible, Ezek. 1.5-10, 1) to be more specific.

For the source list entry, we offer this sample:

No author. 2017. New Jerusalem Bible. Ezek. 1.5-10. Print.

This order of information can work for other religious texts, as well.
