Should section headings be capitalized?

Strayer Writing Standards does not have specific rules on capitalization for section headings. You should use your best judgement for what would be appropriate. When in doubt, consult your instructor.

A common academic writing convention is to use title case and keep under five words. Here are sample headings for a hypothetical paper on writing strategies for college students:

Note Taking and In-Text Citations

Never Skip Proofreading

Conclusion
