How do I cite a source I have accessed on an app?

How do I cite sources I've located via my local library via the Hoopla or Libby app? How do I cite sources I read on a non-library app?

Answer

Some assignments may allow for research using external sources. Apps such as EBSCO, Libby and Hoopla, Kindle, Audible, and others can be great ways to locate relevant sources.

When citing a source from an app, the source list citation should reflect the source itself. We suggest using the ISBN number as the unique identifier. For example, if the source below was found on the Kindle app, it could be cited in the in-text and source list as follows:

(Snyder, 1)

Jane Snyder. 2024. Conducting Research: 10 Case Studies Spanning the Disciplines. ISBN 978-123456789.
