You must include citations when incorporating any source of information. This includes crediting ChatGPT or other AI software. Citations refer to in-text citations and source list entries.
Below are examples of an in-text citation and source list entry for generative AI, in compliance with SWS guidelines.
In-text citation
- When asked, “What is the meaning of life? Explain it in 5 paragraphs,” ChatGPT-4 responded that … (1).
- On December 8, 2022, the author prompted ChatGPT-4 (1) with the following, “What is the meaning of life? Explain it in 5 paragraphs.”
Source list entry
